Brief Introduction to the High School
Affiliated to Beijing Institute of Education
(abbreviation: BIE High School)
As a full-time secondary school, BIE High School was set up in 2008 jointly by Beijing Municipal Education Commission in Xicheng District and Beijing Institute of Education, in the background of advocating balanced development of education. With the principal belief Fair Education and balanced development, the school has been endeavoring to provide quality education to children from ordinary families.
Now there are 37 classes, over 1100 students and approximately 200 teachers. Among them, 45 teachers have senior titles and 31 have the honor of academic pacemakers and élite teachers. The number of teachers with postgraduate degrees or who have finished most of the relevant courses reaches 100. The advantages of young teachers are prominent. In the past few years, young teachers have won prizes consecutively in Xicheng Cup, a competition of teachers’ basic skills.
Thanks to the support from experts in Beijing Institute of Education, the school is developing tremendously in all areas.
In the past three years, BIE High School has been promoting teachers’ professional development and trying to provide fair education to students. “Quality, Brand, Reputation and Dignity” is our action slogan. Teachers have been offered lots of opportunities to broaden their mind, improve their skills and update their concepts. In addition, the school has signed agreements with three schools abroad, respectively from France, America and Australia. Several cultural exchange trips have been successfully organized. In terms of extra-curriculum activities, orchestra, chorus and robots interest group as well as environmental friendly club are playing a more and more important role in cultivating students’ innovation and improving students’ comprehensive capacity. Art, Sports and Science Festivals are becoming more and more popular among students.
In recent years, BIE High School have won a lot of honors, such as Xicheng District Civilized Unit, Excellent Junior High School, Science and Technology Model School, Advanced Unit in science and technology, Advanced School in school-based education and research on Research and Study Internet of Xicheng District, the experimental school of the base of Research and Study Institute, the experimental school of Beijing Senior High School Curricula Reform.
School logo explanation
“教育jiao yu” is the Chinese translation for English word “education”. It consists of two characters. The central part of the logo is 教, which symbolizes imparting knowledge and equipping students with various skills as well as students’ desire for knowledge. The waves under the letter “y” embody the ocean of knowledge where teachers and students are striving for their future endeavors.
